We built these long halogen lamps for when you need a massive amount of shortwave infrared heat, and you need it now. At 240V and 3000W, you’re getting a ton of power spread across a wide area. It’s perfect for those jobs where you can’t afford to wait around for things to warm up and you need the heat to actually sink deep into your materials. The power side of things Since we’re pushing 3000W over 1220mm, the heat is spread out. That’s a good thing. It means you won’t end up with those annoying hot spots that ruin a wide workpiece. Plus, because it runs on 240V, you can usually plug it straight into your industrial grid. No need to mess around with bulky, expensive step-down transformers. Just a heads-up, though: make sure your wiring is thick enough. If the gauge is too thin, you’ll lose voltage over that long distance, and you won’t get the performance you’re paying for. Why quartz and halogen? Here is the secret sauce. We use a halogen cycle that stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and sticking to the glass. Without that, the tube gets cloudy and dies quickly. With it? The tube stays clear and lasts much longer. We also used quartz glass because it can handle a brutal thermal shock without cracking, and it lets the infrared radiation fly right through without soaking up the heat itself. Fitting it into your setup Most people use these as drop-in replacements for PET blowing machines or big drying tunnels. They hit peak temperature almost instantly. It’s fast. Really fast. And that usually means your cycle times drop significantly. But look, there are a few things to watch out for. A 3000W element puts out a lot of waste heat. If your housing doesn’t have decent vents or your fans are too weak, you’re going to melt your reflectors and fry your wiring. And for the love of everything,keep the quartz clean. One greasy fingerprint or a smudge of oil on the glass creates a tiny hot spot. That’s all it takes to burn out the whole tube. Keep it spotless, and it’ll treat you right.
