It’s all about concentrated, high-intensity heat. The power side of things Here’s the thing: 1000W in a small R7s frame is a lot of energy in a tiny space. Before you plug these in, double-check your power supply. You don’t want to be the person tripping the circuit breakers halfway through a shift. And a quick tip on your wiring—don’t skim on the cables. If the wires are too thin, you’ll get a voltage drop, and your heat output will just tank. It’s frustrating and completely avoidable. Why the R7s design works We use the R7s linear base (you might know it as the SK15) because it’s just easier. You can pop a new one in without messing around with soldering or a nightmare of wires. As for the glass, we use high-purity quartz. Normal glass would just melt or warp under this kind of stress. Plus, there’s a halogen cycle happening inside that keeps the tungsten filament fresh, so you don’t end up with that ugly black soot coating the inside of the tube. Real-world use (and a few warnings) You’ll see these everywhere—PET blowing machines, industrial drying tunnels, or those heavy-duty space heaters that actually work. They hit their peak temperature almost instantly. But, there’s a catch. **Do not touch the glass with your bare hands.**Seriously. The oils from your skin leave tiny spots on the quartz. Once the lamp heats up, those spots become “hot spots” that can actually make the glass crack or burn out way too soon. Grab some lint-free gloves before you touch them. One last thing: keep your reflectors clean. If they’re covered in dust, you’re basically throwing away a huge chunk of your heat energy. A quick wipe-down makes a world of difference.
