The Balancing Act: Wattage and Heat
Here is the thing about lamp specs: it’s all a trade-off between wattage and voltage. If you cram high wattage into a small space, you get a massive spike in heat density. That’s great for your bottom line because you can speed up the conveyor and push more parts through the oven. But there’s a catch. Your power supply has to be able to handle that initial “cold start” surge. If your voltage dips, the lamp won’t get hot enough. Then you’re looking at under-cured parts that peel off the moment they hit the warehouse floor.Not a good look.
The Nitty-Gritty: Glass and Connections
We use high-purity quartz glass because it lets the IR light through without fighting it. Plus, we add specialized coatings to reflect the heat forward. Why? Because sending heat into the oven walls is just wasting money. Then there are the connectors—R7s, Sk15, whatever you’re running. They have to be tight. A loose connection creates a hot spot, and a hot spot burns out your terminals. Industrial shops are brutal on equipment. And while these lamps are tough, they hate unstable voltage. If you over-volt a lamp by even 5%, you’re basically chopping its lifespan in half.
